César Rodríguez wins the Punta Blanca Golf Invitational Tournament

Bavaro. - Amateur golfer César Rodríguez became the best player of the 18th edition of the Punta Blanca Golf Club Invitational Tournament, an event dedicated this year to César Rivera, a glory of national sport and a certified rules judge who has been involved in our golf for more than 4 decades.

Rodríguez was the winner of the best overall gross score with 149 strokes after two impeccable rounds of golf playing on the Nick Price design. "This is the home of the AGLA and I play here a lot in Punta Blanca, so its design is very familiar to me. It was two days of tough competition playing under a strong, inclement heat, but I managed to overcome it and managed to put in two good rounds that ultimately gave me the victory," said César after the awards ceremony.

On his part, César Rivera was pleased to have been selected for the 2025 dedication of the tournament. "I thank the club along with my family for this dedication. Thanks to its president, Teddy García, its general administrator, Antonio Ramis, its superintendent Tomás Mercedes, and its administrative director, Angelina Taveras. I have lived an unforgettable weekend with my family. Thank you all for your usual affection," said the veteran Dominican resident in Puerto Rico who is celebrating his 95th birthday this week.

The tournament had a participation of 120 players per day and was played in Individual Stroke Play format. The activities began on Friday with a grand cocktail - gala dinner in which the formal recognition of Don César was held, who expressed much emotion upon receiving the commemorative plaque of the event. The two rounds were played on Saturday and Sunday, culminating with the awards ceremony in the event hall of the Majestic Resorts.

WINNERS: In addition to César, in category A Enrique Rodríguez (-3) took first place, followed by Franklin Sánchez (-2), leaving Rodrigo Santana (+1) in third. In group B, Sigfrido Veras won the gross with 159. First place went to Maiker Ramírez (-4), with Héctor Alfaro in second (-2), and in third, Billy Santos (+1). In category C, Paul Shein won the gross with 175. The first net was obtained by Jesús Padilla (-4), the second by Fernando de los Santos (-1), and the third by Gustavo Gimondo (+2). Jorge Puente dominated Senior A with 156, escorted by Freddy Sierra (-1), Jorge Reynoso made +1, and Bryan Byford finished with (+2). Eddy Cabreja with 158 won the gross of Senior B, and Andrés Moreno Carrasco won the net (+8), leaving second place to Paul Scheer (+8), and third to Teodoro Reyes (+9). Cecilia Rosado (160) was the gross champion for the ladies, and Kyung Kim won the first net (+4). In second and third place came Eneida Martínez (+6) and Susan Schein (+37), respectively.

In the special awards, for the ladies, the winners were: in the first round Eneida Martínez (closest to the pin on hole 6), and Juana Bodré for the most accurate drive (hole 10), and in the second round, Susan Schein won the closest to the pin (H6), and Cecilia Rosado de Nord won the longest drive on hole 12. For the gentlemen, in the first round the winners were José Fontan (closest to the pin on hole 13), and Julio Pérez for the most accurate drive (hole 4). In the second round, Eddy Cabreja won the closest to the pin on hole 13, and Casimiro Richiez took the longest drive on hole 9.

The tournament had more than 120 raffle items and a great atmosphere of camaraderie at the culmination of the event.
