Ellis, 32 years old, is a veteran American pitcher with experience in Major Leagues, LIDOM and the Mexican Baseball League. The confirmation was offered by the president of operations, Lic. Alfredo Acebal Rizek, who highlighted the importance of this signing to strengthen the team's bullpen.

“We continue to move forward in the formation of a good team for next season and we are pleased to bring Chris Ellis back. He is an experienced arm that should help us a lot,” said Acebal Rizek.

History with the Giants and LIDOM

Ellis already knows the organization, as he defended the colors of the Gigantes del Cibao during the 2020-2021 season, considered his best campaign in Dominican baseball. In that tournament, he recorded a 1-0 record, with an ERA of 2.35 in five games (four as a starter). In the postseason, he had a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 3.00, being a key piece in pitching. Additionally, Ellis has played in LIDOM with the Leones del Escogido (2018-2019) and the Toros del Este (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), solidifying himself as a reliable pitcher within the league.

Arrives in great shape from Mexico

The right comes from an outstanding performance in the Mexican Baseball League 2025 with the Sultanes de Monterrey, where he pitched 39 games as a reliever and achieved 19 saves. In 39.1 innings of work, he allowed 35 hits, gave 19 walks and struck out 37 batters, leaving a WHIP of 1.37.

Confirmed reinforcements

With this signing, Chris Ellis becomes the fifth imported player confirmed by the Gigantes del Cibao for next season, joining pitchers Caleb Smith, Reid Birlingmair, Scott Engler and Daniel Mengden. The Giants continue to reinforce their roster with the aim of competing for the LIDOM 2025-2026 championship, betting on experience, depth, and balance in the pitching staff.
