Santo Domingo. – The Emergency Operations Center (COE), headed by its director José Manuel Méndez, issued this Monday the second bulletin of the "Conscience for Life, Christmas and New Year 2025-2026" operation, in which worrying figures related to accidents, deaths and poisonings during the New Year's holiday are reported.
According to the report presented by Major General Méndez, 20 minors, aged between 11 and 17 years old, were intoxicated by alcohol consumption, a fact that once again raises alarms about adult supervision and compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.
The bulletin details that 48 traffic accidents were recorded, with a balance of 8 people dead and 61 people affected.
In addition, 10,988 assistance services were reported by the rescue organizations deployed throughout the country.

Regarding poisonings, the COE reported a total of 120 cases, of which 19 were due to food poisoning, while the rest were related to alcohol consumption.
The COE director reiterated the call to the population to act with prudence, responsibility, and respect for the rules, especially regarding alcohol consumption and the protection of children and adolescents, with the aim of reducing negative figures during the operation.
The "Conscience for Life" operation continues to be carried out nationwide with the participation of various institutions, seeking to preserve lives and guarantee the safety of citizens during the festivities.
