Santo Domingo.— The recent commissioning of the Independencia Avenue corridor has triggered warning signals in the transportation sector, after complaints arose about diversions of units outside the route authorized by the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant).
According to reports from traditional transport actors, some buses from the corridor are circulating on Mexico Avenue, despite the fact that the approved license establishes a specific route from the 12 de Haina to Independence Park. Representatives of the sector warn that this practice constitutes a violation of what was agreed and could generate tensions between the different routes that operate in the area, considered a nerve center of urban transport in Greater Santo Domingo. The discontent among traditional route drivers, according to the complaints, has been increasing in recent days, which raises the risk of conflicts if the situation is not clarified and corrected in a timely manner.
