Executive Branch designates the armed group Cártel de los Soles as a terrorist organization

Santo Domingo. - The Executive Branch designated the armed group Cártel de los Soles as a terrorist organization, instructing the State's intelligence and security agencies to adopt appropriate measures to prevent incursions by the aforementioned group into national territory, or against Dominican interests abroad. The designation is contained in decree 500-25 dated September 2 of this year. The decision is based on the fact that the Dominican Constitution establishes as a high priority objective the fight against transnational criminal activities that endanger the interests of the country, as well as peace, stability and national and regional security.

In the same document, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is instructed to communicate to the relevant international organizations and strategic partners of the Dominican Republic. Likewise, coordinate with the appropriate multilateral instances the necessary actions so that, within the framework of international law, the sanctions and cooperation measures that are relevant against said terrorist group are adopted.
