The crimes were recorded between Friday and Saturday
Puerto Rico.– A weekend marked by violence and road tragedies left a balance of four shooting deaths and three deaths from traffic accidents in different parts of the island, according to the Bureau of the Puerto Rico Police.
The first murder occurred early Friday morning in Guaynabo, where a 23-year-old man was shot to death while riding a motorcycle on PR-1. According to the preliminary report, the attackers fled the scene after taking the vehicle. Hours later, during the night of Friday, two other homicides were reported. In Santurce, a 28-year-old man was found shot in the vicinity of the Luis Llorens Torres residential complex. Meanwhile, in Cayey, a 35-year-old man was shot dead inside a housing development, without details about those responsible being offered so far. The fourth murder occurred on Saturday night in Carolina, where a 19-year-old was found shot dead inside a vehicle. As of the end of this report, authorities indicated that no additional murders had been reported on Sunday.With these cases, the number of homicides so far in 2026 rises to 11, which represents a decrease compared to the 16 murders recorded for the same date in 2025, according to official data.
Regarding fatal accidents, three were recorded during the weekend. The first occurred on Friday in Toa Baja, when a 78-year-old pedestrian died after being hit while crossing a poorly lit road outside the crosswalk.
