GALA Media Group recognizes young leaders in the XIV edition of the Young Person of the Year Award 2026

GALA Media Group celebrated the XIV edition of the Young Person of the Year Award 2026, in a ceremony that brought together representatives from the public, business, political, legal, municipal, and media sectors to recognize young figures and emerging leaders for their contributions to the development of the Dominican Republic. During the event, held in the Piantini Hall of the JW Marriott Hotel, professionals and entrepreneurs from different areas were distinguished, in an awards ceremony that reaffirmed the value of young leadership, professional excellence and the commitment to the social and institutional transformation of the country. One of the central moments of the night was the presentation of the Business Merit Recognition to Héctor José Rizek Sued, president of Grupo Rizek, for his career and contribution to national productive development. When giving words of thanks, Rizek Sued expressed: “With total honesty, undertaking is not an easy or perfect path; there are doubts and stumbles. Opportunities, sometimes, do not arrive, but are built. Each mistake brings a lesson. Success is not immediate or linear; it is the effect of innovating, even when the results are not visible. Start with what you have. Sustained effort yields its fruits. Believe in the power of perseverance. The future is built with actions”.

Likewise, a Special Recognition was granted to Santiago Matías, for his impact on the media, the entertainment industry, and the evolution of the Dominican digital ecosystem. Communicator Miralba Ruiz was in charge of hosting the event, while the panel "What to do to start a business?" was moderated by Sol Disla, a professional in strategic communication and crisis management. The discussion featured the participation of Omar Fernández, senator of the National District; Gloria Reyes, Minister of Women; Yorlin Vásquez, judge of the Supreme Court of Justice; Lenis García, judge of the Superior Electoral Tribunal; and Boris de León, president of ANJE. The space fostered a reflection on leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the vision of the future. In representation of the award winners, Robert de la Cruz, CEO of Apartamentos RD and businessman linked to the Dominican real estate sector, gave the words of thanks, in which he expressed: "The young entrepreneurs, leaders and dreamers who, from different spaces, contribute to the growth of our country with work, vision and commitment, we have discovered something powerful: youth is not in age, but in the soul. Because the soul stays young when it has purpose, when it gets up every day wanting to serve, to create and to contribute; when it decides to do the right thing, even when no one is watching." In the Powers of the State category, Yorlin Vásquez Castro, Lenis Rosángela García Guzmán, Francisco Franco Soto, Ricardo Noboa, and César José García were recognized. Lucas. In Political Leadership, the awardees were Orlando Jorge Villegas and Nathanael Concepción; while in Business Leadership, Boris de León and Karina Mancebo were distinguished. In the Legislative Area, Charlie Mariotti Jr. and Jesús Stalin Vásquez Marte were recognized. In the Municipality, the awards highlighted Lenín Campos, Yohendy Jiménez Bonilla, Jorge Feliz Pacheco, and Rafael Gutiérrez. The Media category recognized Millizen Uribe, Cristian Cabrera, Danylsa Vargas, Susy Aquino Gautreau, and María Cristina Rodríguez. In the Governmental category, Julissa Cruz was distinguished, and in the Professional category, Yuri Enrique Rodríguez Lorenzo and Nikauris Báez Ramírez were recognized. In the Entrepreneurs and Businessmen category, the award winners were Daniel Ureña, Robert de la Cruz, Yerik Pérez, Wester Hernández, Alger Santos, Jordan Estévez, Diego Arciero and Juan Miguel Curbelo Monroy. In Special Recognitions and New Generations, Miguel Rafael Suárez Tavárez, Ricardo Caruso, Leandro José Leonardo Duarte, Francisco Valdez Lozada, Víctor Medina and Ángel Fernando Trifolio López were also exalted. The awards ceremony also included recognition for Leidy Blanco García in Contributions to Society; for José Francisco Ramos Frías in Outstanding Dominicans Abroad; and for Karilyn María Chabebe Lantigua in Female Leadership.
