Santo Domingo.– The governor of the Columbus Lighthouse, Eliezer Nolasco, denounced this Sunday the alleged militarization of the monument, pointing to the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio, as responsible, amid what he described as tensions due to "political differences".
Through his account on the social network X, Nolasco stated that the measure responds to a "political repression", linked to internal disagreements within the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). "Today the Lighthouse was militarized", he expressed, while using the hashtag #AbusoDePoder.
The official also referred to previous conflicts, assuring that his political support for Carolina Mejía had generated discomfort in Astacio. In that context, he questioned pressures to align with certain political decisions.
