Inacif incinerates over 400 kilograms of drugs

Santo Domingo.- As part of the ongoing actions aimed at combating drug trafficking in the country, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) proceeded this Thursday with the incineration of more than 400 kilograms of drugs, 78% of which were cases of marijuana.


During the act, the authorities reported that a total of 414 kilograms and 42 grams of different narcotic substances were burned, including 325 kilograms and 15 grams (78.50%) of marijuana and 86 kilograms and 119 grams of cocaine (20.80%).


Also, corresponded to crack 2 kilograms 873 grams (0.69%) and to ecstasy 34 grams (0.0083%).

In Santo Domingo, the largest amount was seized with a total of 371,966.246. Drug seizures were also carried out in the National District, San Cristóbal, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, and Monte Plata.


In the act, 4 kilograms and 186 grams of other substances were also burned, which were determined not to be drugs, through the analyses carried out at Inacif.


Prosecutors from different jurisdictions, members of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and other state security agencies carry out the seizures as part of the actions taken to combat drug trafficking and micro-trafficking in the country.


So far this year, 7,341 kilograms and 88 grams of various drugs have been destroyed, highlights a press release from the forensic body.


Every Thursday, Inacif is in charge of the destruction of narcotics at the facilities of Campamento Militar 16 de Agosto, headquarters of the General Command of the Dominican Republic Army, located at kilometer 25 of the Duarte Highway, in the municipality of Pedro Brand, Santo Domingo province. Representatives from different institutions of the justice system and the health sector participate in the act.


The activity is carried out in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances of the Dominican Republic and the Organic Law of the Public Ministry No. 133-11.
