Deputies from opposition parties in Italy such as the Democratic Party (PD), the Five Star Movement (M5S), Green Alliance and Left (AVS) and +Europa occupied the press room of the Chamber of Deputies this Friday to prevent the holding of a far-right conference on the subject of "remigration".
Remigration is a term used by far-right parties to refer to forced repatriations of migrants.
At the conference, organized by League member Domenico Furgiuele, a partner of Giorgia Meloni in the Government, members of far-right groups such as Casapound, Fronte Skinhead, Forza Nuova, and the Network of Patriots had been invited.

At 10:40, an hour before the press conference, opposition deputies, as previously announced, entered the room to prevent the event with the Constitution in hand and began to sing the song 'Bella Ciao', a symbol of the resistance of the partisans during the Nazi-fascist occupation. Yesterday, the opposition made it clear that it would obstruct the initiative to "prevent the entry of Nazis into the building" and discuss the issue of "remigration". "During the week of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the skinheads arrive: they are not opinions, they are crimes," commented M5S deputy Riccardo Ricciardi. Faced with the protests, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, decided to suspend all press conferences scheduled for today "for reasons of public order". The protest then moved outside the building, with opposition members holding up signs with the image of Matteotti, a socialist deputy assassinated in 1924 by a fascist squad.
