New York.- The tech giant Meta announced this Monday that it appointed Dina Powell McCormick, former advisor to Donald Trump during part of his first term, as president and vice president of the company.
Powell was on Meta's board of directors until last December, when she resigned without specifying the reason, and was "deeply involved" as the tech company accelerated its
search for artificial intelligence (AI) and personal superintelligence, according to a statement.
"Dina's experience at the highest levels of global finance makes her especially well-suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as chair and vice chair of the company," noted Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
For his part, Trump congratulated McCormick on Truth Social, who served as his Deputy National Security Advisor until 2018, and defined her as a "fantastic" and "talented" person who "served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction."
According to Meta's statement, Powell, 52, originally from Egypt, will be part of its management team and will help guide the company's overall strategy and execution.
Thus, you will collaborate with the IT and infrastructure teams to ensure that the company's multi-million dollar investments align with its objectives and generate a positive economic impact in the communities where it operates.
In addition, her role as president and vice president of the technology company "will drive the creation of new strategic capital alliances and the search for innovative ways to expand our long-term investment capacity," the company said.
Powell worked for 16 years at Goldman Sachs and in 2023 joined the investment firm BDT & MSD Partners, and also worked for the State Department during the George Bush administration.
