Santo Domingo.– The National Police held the workshop “MSPP in Action, Leadership and Territorial Escalation”, a training session aimed at strengthening the implementation of the New Public Police Service Model (NMSPP) in different territories of the country, as part of the process of Reform, Modernization and Transformation institutional.
The activity, held over two days at the Officers' Club of the institution, was led by the Deputy Director General of the National Police, General Esteban Figuereo García, representing the Director General, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, along with the Executive Commissioner for Police Reform, Luis Ernesto García Hernández.
During the opening, General Figuereo García highlighted that the territorial scaling of the NMSPP aims to consolidate a police service based on respect for fundamental rights, closeness to citizens, and more timely attention to the needs of the population.
Likewise, it was pointed out that the transformation process seeks to strengthen the discipline, supervision, and responsiveness of the agents in the communities where the model will be implemented.
"The NMSPP promotes a police culture based on community proximity, transparency, and preventive work, with the purpose of strengthening trust between citizens and the institution," said the senior officer.
For his part, the executive commissioner for Police Reform, Luis Ernesto García Hernández, highlighted the importance of correctly applying the established protocols within the new model and assured that the leadership of the officers will be decisive for the success of its implementation.
He explained that the program will be launched soon in 20 selected police departments, so he considered it essential to have commanders committed to constant supervision, community outreach, and compliance with standards aimed at offering more efficient and humane responses.
García Hernández also valued the permanent monitoring carried out by the Joint Task Force headed by President Luis Abinader along with the main security authorities of the State, to evaluate the strategies related to citizen security.
The training brought together departmental commanders and coordinators from the territories where the model will be implemented, with the purpose of strengthening their strategic and operational capacities to ensure an effective execution of the New Public Police Service Model throughout the country.
In the activity also participated the Central Director of Prevention, General Martín Tapia Sánchez; the Central Director of Police Transformation, General Francisco Pimentel; the rector of the Police Institute of Higher Education (IPES), General Juan Guzmán Badia; Colonel Oracio Antonio Veras, director of Implementation of the Public Police Service Model, and advisor Jimmy Ospina, from the Office of the Executive Commissioner for Police Reform.
