Santo Domingo. - The Public Ministry requested before the instruction judge of María Trinidad Sánchez the imposition of one year of preventive prison, as a coercive measure, against nine members of the micro-trafficking and money laundering network dismantled over the weekend.
Prosecutors also request that the case against Soleny Amparo Rondón (la Diva, la Doña or Soleny), Edwin Alfredo Santos Mapello (Mapello or el Conejo), Esmailyn Marte González (Esmailyn or Gaviota), Jandrier Carolina Antonia Wazar De Mazerolle (Antonia), Roberto Amparo Paredes (Chipon), Rhonny Alvarado Martínez (Ronny), Ludenys Batista Javier, Kelvin Manuel López Bruno and Yan Carlos Almonte Reyes (Sorry) be declared complex.
The request for coercive measures, filed by prosecutors Juan Antonio Mateo Ciprián (head of María Trinidad Sánchez), Odalis Ramona Mercado Morris and Ana Carina Pérez Hilario, establishes that the accused are part of a complex, hierarchical and transnational criminal structure, dedicated to drug trafficking, possession and illicit marketing of high-caliber firearms, as well as money laundering.
It indicates that the structure was also dedicated to the systematic intimidation of third parties. "The main operational base of said organization is located in the municipality of Cabrera, Maria Trinidad Sánchez province, with ramifications in neighboring areas and connections throughout much of the national territory," it indicates.
According to the request for coercive measure, the defendant Soleny Amparo Rondón resides in Nagua and San Juan de la Maguana, while Ludenys Batista Javier and Kelvin Manuel López Bruno live in the municipality of Nagua and the other defendants in Cabrera.
The defendants were arrested during an operation carried out by the General Directorate of Prosecution of the Public Ministry, the Prosecutor's Office of the province of María Trinidad Sánchez and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office against Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, jointly with the Organized Crime Investigation Area Directorate of the National Police (Daico), and with the support of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD).
In the operation, 47 prosecutors participated, who mobilized to carry out 37 raids in which about 395 agents of the State security agencies acted.

The Public Ministry establishes that in its investigation it was able to determine the capacity of control over the network that Soleny Amparo Rondón (la Diva, la Doña or Soleny) had, who acted in collusion with authorities and had faced processes for violation of laws numbers 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances and 631-16 for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials. Also, Edwin Alfredo Santos Mapello (Mapello or the Rabbit), Esmailyn Marte González, Roberto Amparo Paredes (Chipón), Rhonny Alvarado Martínez (Rony) and Yan Carlos Almonte Reyes have open processes or were pursued for crimes related to drug trafficking prior to this process.
