Santo Domingo.– A team from Último Minuto toured the streets of the Villa Duarte sector to learn the opinion of its residents about the insecurity situation and the criminal acts that, according to some community members, affect the area.
During the uprising, several citizens expressed their concern about what they consider an increase in crime. One of the interviewees stated that "crime has been very strong and many regrettable events have been recorded," while criticizing the approach of some police operations. "Crime is on its own; I urge the Police to do their job," he expressed. However, other residents indicated that in certain areas of the sector the situation remains calm. "On this side everything is calm," commented one of the citizens consulted.

Oscar, another community member, pointed out that insecurity is perceived mainly at night. "At night there are robberies, although many times they are people who come from other areas," he explained. For her part, Madalena described the situation as "difficult", while Julio Gómez indicated that crime varies by area. "Here it's more or less, but towards Pueblo Nuevo things get more complicated," he said. Gerson Vólquez recounted a close experience that reinforces his concern. “My daughter's husband had a motor stolen. The situation is very difficult and we need the authorities to control this,” he stated. In contrast, Omar considered that crime is a general problem. "There are criminals everywhere, but around here everything is fine," he stated. The opinions gathered show divided perceptions among the residents of Villa Duarte, while the community reiterates the call to the authorities to reinforce surveillance and security actions in the sector.By Yerandi santana
