Russia announces the capture of two locations in Ukraine during the last 24 hours

The Russian army has taken two locations in Ukraine during the last 24 hours, this Friday announced the Ministry of Defense of this country. The new conquests of the Russian forces, according to the military statement, are Zakitne, in the Donetsk region, and Zhovtneve, in Zaporizhzhia. Zakitne is a small town on the banks of the Siverskyi Donets with half a thousand inhabitants before the start of the war. A road passes through this town that connects the city of Siversk, whose capture Russia claimed last December, with Lyman.

Meanwhile, Zhovtneve is located on the west bank of the Haichur River, where Russian forces continue to expand their zone of control. In total, over the past week, Russian troops have conquered five locations in Ukraine, according to Defense. The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, assured the day before that in two weeks of January, Russian forces conquered eight settlements and more than 300 square kilometers of territory came under their control.
