Spanish forces arrest seven people for alleged fraud

Spanish security forces have arrested seven people of various South American nationalities suspected of belonging to a gang dedicated to scams using the method of impersonating a high-ranking ecclesiastical official. The detainees are two Colombian women, aged 22 and 26; two Brazilian women, aged 36 and 37; a Brazilian man, aged 23, a Venezuelan man, aged 24, and a Dominican man, aged 34. The alleged perpetrators were charged with fraud, money laundering, identity theft, forgery of public documents, and membership in a criminal group, according to a statement released by the police on Tuesday.
