Monte Plata – A young man identified as Brayan Contreras, alias “Oreja”, 26 years old, who was actively sought by the National Police, surrendered to agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) in the municipality of Yamasá.
“Oreja” is accused of having participated in an armed robbery that occurred in January of this year in the La Zurza sector of the National District, where Miguel Montero, 34, an employee of a plantain supplier company, was shot.
According to preliminary investigations, Contreras allegedly committed the act along with another young man identified as "Orbi," who remains at large. Both are said to have broken into the establishment, where they stole an unspecified amount of cash, as well as a Viking brand 9mm pistol. Brayan Contreras had been in hiding for over a month in the Los Mosquitos community, in the municipality of Yamasá, and surrendered to the authorities in the presence of his lawyer Raúl Rosario and his uncle Juan Manzueta Contreras, who stated that he learned of the case after a visit from police officers to his residence.
After its delivery, it was transferred to the Municipal Hospital of Yamasá and later placed under the custody of Captain De Jesús, assigned to the Investigations Section of Villas Agrícolas.
From his side, lawyer Raúl Rosario requested that the fundamental rights of his client be respected, and expressed that it will be justice that determines his responsibility in the events he is accused of.
