Santiago.- The Permanent Attention Services Judicial Office of the Santiago judicial district imposed this Thursday three months of preventive detention against Antony Andrés Montero, alias “Creazi”, accused of shooting David Antonio Fernández, 50 years old, known as “El Ruso”, in an event that occurred in front of a children's park in the Barrio Nuevo sector of La Herradura, southwest of this city.
The decision was made by Judge Wanda Tavárez, who ordered that the defendant comply with the precautionary measure at the El Pinito Correction and Rehabilitation Center, in La Vega, while the Public Ministry deepens the investigations into the crime, which has generated consternation among the residents of the community.
According to preliminary information, the homicide would have originated after a heated discussion between the victim and the accused, allegedly linked to passionate conflicts, since, according to versions obtained at the scene, Montero would be the husband of Fernández's sentimental partner.
The victim, popularly known as "El Ruso", worked as a caretaker of the park where the event occurred, a space frequented daily by children, families, and community members of the sector.

Witnesses reported that, hours before the crime, both men had allegedly had an altercation, during which Fernández supposedly slapped the now-accused several times. However, according to the versions collected by the authorities, Montero withdrew from the scene and later returned armed, shooting Fernández on multiple occasions, who fell mortally wounded right in front of the recreational area.
The event has caused deep outrage among the residents of La Herradura, not only because of the violence with which it was carried out, but also because it occurred in an environment intended for children's recreation, where minors and families regularly gather.
At the end of the hearing, Roberto Pérez, the defendant's lawyer, informed that the judge accepted the Public Prosecutor's request, which provisionally classified the case as voluntary manslaughter, based on articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code.
During the knowledge of the measure, the accused alleged that he was supposedly harassed by the victim, assuring that "El Ruso" frequently appeared at the business of a hairdressing salon he operated.
Meanwhile, legal representatives and family members of the victim valued the court's decision, considering that there are sufficient elements that compromise the criminal responsibility of the accused, thus supporting the imposition of pre-trial detention due to the seriousness of the act.

Some residents also expressed their surprise, pointing out that the accused comes from a family with a religious tradition, which has increased the impact of the case on the community, where —according to them— acts of violence of this magnitude are not frequent.
The Public Ministry maintains an open investigation to establish all the details surrounding this homicide, which occurred on March 13 in an event that has shocked the residents of La Herradura.
