Every March 29th, the United States commemorates National Vietnam War Veterans Day, a date dedicated to honoring the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.
The commemoration was officially proclaimed in 2017 by then-President Donald Trump, establishing March 29 as a day of national recognition. The date coincides with the anniversary of the withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam in 1973.
This day has a special meaning, as for years many veterans did not receive proper recognition after their return to the country. With this commemoration, the aim is to highlight their bravery, sacrifice, and commitment, as well as to foster respect for those who were part of this conflict.
Ceremonies, commemorative events, and educational activities are held in different cities to remember the veterans, many of whom faced physical and emotional aftereffects of the war.
