Moca, Espaillat.– A violent incident shook the Maco Tibio sector in this municipality after a young woman reported being attacked with boiling oil, allegedly by a woman who came to collect a debt of one thousand pesos, causing her considerable burns on different parts of her body.
The victim was identified as Mónica Germosén, who directly pointed to Karina Peralta as the alleged perpetrator of the assault, which occurred when the accused showed up at her residence demanding immediate payment of the money. According to Germosén's account, upon not receiving payment at that moment, Peralta reacted violently and threw hot oil at him, causing serious injuries that required medical attention. We recommend reading: "He showed up at my house to collect a thousand pesos and he wasn't patient; he threw the oil at me," expressed the affected person when reporting the incident. The case has generated outrage among the residents of the area, who describe the act as an act of extreme violence that, for a minimal debt, put a woman's physical integrity at risk. So far, the authorities have not offered official details about the arrest of the alleged aggressor or the judicial process that could arise from the case, while family members and community members demand that justice be done and that the act not go unpunished. The aggression once again brings to the table the worrying escalation of personal conflicts that end in violent acts, even for small sums of money, in communities across the country.
