Santo Domingo. – With the presence of the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera Batista was sworn in as the new executive president of the Banco de Reservas, in compliance with decree 461-25.
Aguilera Batista, who since 2020 served as executive president of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (REFIDOMSA), now assumes the direction of the country's main state banking entity.
With a career spanning more than three decades in the economic and political sphere, the new head of Banreservas is a university professor, economic advisor, and political consultant. He was the founding president of the Centro Económico del Cibao (CEC) and has worked as a consultant in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Haiti, and El Salvador.
He is also a member of the Latin American Association of Political Consultants (ALACOP), author of several publications on economics and politics, and has specialized studies in Economics and Politics in the former Soviet Union, as well as at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).
With this designation, President Abinader continues the adjustments in his cabinet with the purpose of strengthening the institutions of the State at the beginning of his second term in office.
