Trump Provides Details of China Deal for TikTok

Donald Trump provided details of a future deal with China to allow the popular short video platform TikTok to continue operating in the North American country. "It's a very good deal for us," the American president told the press.
"Well, everything is being negotiated. We will have very strict control. We have American investors, all of them American, and they all love our country. They are very well-known people, in fact, very famous financially. And they will have control," the president replied when asked by the press if he would be willing to accept an agreement in which Beijing maintains control of the algorithm.

On the other hand, he asserted that "many people" in the U.S., particularly young people and their parents, want the network to function on American soil. "Many people want it. The young people of this country want it with all their might. The parents of those young people too. So we managed to reach an agreement with China. It's a very good deal for us. I hope it is also for them," he said about it.

"We wanted a lot of people in this country to want to be open. And if they weren't open, maybe. I think we won the elections by such a wide margin that it wouldn't have mattered. But we got a lot of votes. We got a lot of Republican votes from very young people," he considered.

To conclude, he mentioned that he was grateful to the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, "because he was a gentleman," and described the relationship between the two as "good," in line with previous comments in which he recounted that in the most recent conversation with his Chinese counterpart they made progress on many important issues.
