Santo Domingo.- Senator Guillermo Lama, in his capacity as president of the Special Commission appointed to study the observations of the Executive Branch to the bill that modifies Law 225-20 on Integral Management and Co-processing of Solid Waste, requested this Wednesday to the Senatorial Plenary an extension of the regulatory period to conclude the analysis of the file. The request was made during the presentation of the management report number one of said commission, created on November 12, 2025 and empowered with a fixed term until November 24 of this year. Lama explained that the commission has held meetings on November 17, 18 and 19, in which it advanced in the study of the observations sent by the Executive Branch. However, he indicated that there are still important elements to review, so the current deadline is insufficient to complete the analysis and drafting of the corresponding legislative report.

"The deadline is about to expire and essential aspects remain to conclude the evaluation. Therefore, we request the Plenary for the regulatory extension, in accordance with article 281 of the Senate Regulations," the legislator indicated.

After the intervention, the President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, submitted the request to a vote, pointing out that the Constitution and the regulations clearly establish the time frames, but that the commission can take the necessary period within the current provisions.
