Santo Domingo.- This Tuesday, through Decree No. 3-26, President Luis Abinader appointed Víctor Orlando Bisonó Haza as Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings.
The former Minister of
Industry, Commerce and Mypimes held said position from August 16, 2020.
Víctor (Ito) Bisonó Haza is a prominent political leader, elected as a
deputy for the National District on four occasions, between 2002 and 2020. In that role, he chaired the Commission on Economy, Planning and Development and was a member of the Industry, Commerce and Finance commissions.
Furthermore, he was a member of the National Council of the Magistracy on two occasions. Prior to his legislative work, he held important positions in the Ministry of Public Works, the Dominican Corporation of Electricity, and the Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Bisonó has promoted timely laws, such as Law 171-07 on Incentives for Rentiers and Foreign Pensioners, Law 57-07 on Renewable Energies, Law 392-07 on Industrial Competitiveness, and Law 479-08 on Commercial Companies, among others.
He has received numerous recognitions for his work, including from the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and the American Chamber of Commerce (Amchamdr). He is president of the Center for Analysis for Public Policies (CAPP), as well as of the Parliamentarians Network for Global Action (PGA), and has published four books that reflect his vision on the economy, democracy, and development in the Dominican Republic.
