Madrid,.- The Spanish National Court Prosecutor's Office has, for the time being, rejected the request from Julio Iglesias's lawyer to be allowed to join the investigation against him, in order to have direct access to the content of the complaint for alleged sexual offenses being investigated in Spain.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Spanish National Court is investigating a complaint against the singer for alleged sexual harassment and assault in 2021 against two employees in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.

According to the decision of the Prosecutor's Office, which EFE has accessed this Monday, it is not appropriate at the moment to take that step, since it is now a matter of determining whether the National Court is competent to investigate that complaint against the singer Julio Iglesias.
Iglesias' lawyer, José Antonio Choclán, has requested the dismissal of the pre-trial proceedings opened by the Prosecutor's Office, declared secret, but also that he be given access to the investigation.
That will happen, in any case, if it is determined that the Audiencia Nacional is competent to investigate and if Iglesias is granted the status of suspect, something that is not being decided at the moment.
The Prosecutor's Office of the National Court argues that "not every suspicion that hangs" over a person nor every investigation aimed at corroborating its veracity "justifies the attribution of the status of a suspect person".
And it is when that status of suspect is granted that the Prosecution must inform them of the proceedings opened so that they can exercise their right to defense.
Iglesias' lawyer demanded to be a party in the Prosecutor's investigation to have direct access to the content of the complaint, regardless of whether there is still no judicial procedure, in order to exercise his defense in the proceedings that are carried out, such as the declaration of the complainants, "which according to what is published, we do not know if it is true, the Prosecutor's Office has decided".
Thus, he adds, "the falsehood of the accusations could be proven and the honor of my client defended, without prejudice to the other actions that assist him in the protection of his fundamental rights against the abusive exercise of criminal actions and aggressive media campaigns that lead him to an irremediable natural penalty, regardless of the process."
The reported facts affect a former domestic worker of the singer and a physiotherapist, who have provided employment documents, photographs, recordings, WhatsApp messages, or call logs to demonstrate the veracity of their accusations, which include sexual assaults, harassment, and systematic workplace humiliation.
Accusations denied by Iglesias, who published a statement on his Instagram profile assuring that he has never "abused, coerced or disrespected any woman".
