Stephen Hawking's family breaks silence on photo with women in bikinis

The family of the late British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking responded to the recent publication of a photograph of the scientist surrounded by two women in bikinis as part of the files of the sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, reported Mirror on Wednesday. "Professor Hawking made some of the greatest contributions to 20th-century physics, while also being the longest-known survivor of motor neuron disease, a debilitating condition that left him dependent on a respirator, a voice synthesizer, a wheelchair, and 24-hour medical care. Any suggestion of inappropriate behavior on his part is wrong and extremely unlikely", his family stated.

It is believed that the two women were his long-term caregivers. The photo was taken in 2006 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the U.S. Virgin Islands, during a conference on quantum cosmology organized by Epstein on his island Little St. James. Hawking, one of the 21 prominent scientists in attendance, also appears in another image at a barbecue and received an underwater tour adapted to his wheelchair. There are no photographs of Hawking and Epstein together. The Cambridge professor is mentioned at least 250 times in the millions of emails and documents of the U.S. Department of Justice. However, his appearance does not imply any accusation of a crime. In a 2015 email, Epstein offered a reward to refute an alleged accusation by Virginia Giuffre about a "minor orgy" in the Virgin Islands involving Hawking, but Giuffre never made it public. In addition, a notice to the FBI in 2019, also published, indicated that Epstein and Hawking attended a "men only" club together in 2011.
