Caracas .- A total of 4,919 people have been arrested in Venezuela this year, reported the director of the Scientific, Criminal, and Criminalistic Investigations Corps (CICPC), Douglas Rico, according to a note published this Tuesday by the Ministry of Interior, which does not specify the crimes of those arrested.
In his Telegram channel, the State portfolio indicated that Rico also reported that in this 2026, 483 firearms and 2,385 ammunitions have been seized. He also detailed that 1,128 vehicles and 1,227 mobile devices have been recovered. Rico urged Venezuelans not to interfere in the "legitimate police actions" and demanded from the officials a "dignified and professional treatment towards the population." Last January, the acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, assured before Parliament that the country registered a rate of three homicides per 100,000 inhabitants during the year 2025, an indicator lower than the 4.1 of 2024.
