Santo Domingo, RD.- Merengue singer Belkys Concepción expressed deep sorrow over the death of the renowned communicator Carlos Batista Matos, assuring that his departure leaves an irreparable void in her personal and family life. The artist, mother of one of the veteran journalist's daughters, shared emotional words during a conversation with the press, in which she highlighted the impact he had on her career and her life story.
Visibly affected, Concepción expressed her gratitude to the person she defined as a pillar in key moments. “I am very grateful to him, because Carlos always supported me in my artistic career, supported me in health problems I once had and gave me the best gift of my life… my daughter”, she expressed, moved, highlighting the bond that united them beyond the professional field. The merengue singer also highlighted the legacy of effort and perseverance left by Batista Matos, whom she described as a man who built his path step by step. In his statements, he also highlighted the love and respect that the communicator cultivated throughout his life, both in the public and private spheres. "Not everyone achieves that, and especially to enjoy so much love from so many people... I told my daughter: you should be proud of the father you have, because Carlos had nothing that anyone could point out, only his love, his dedication," he added.Regarding the circumstances of his death, Concepción explained that, although the medical results have not yet been officially confirmed, it is presumed that the death was the result of a heart attack. “That was something that surprised us all. I had spoken with him a few days before… he was going to have lunch at my house this Thursday”, she recounted, emphasizing that the communicator began to show discomfort days before.
Finally, he indicated that, according to preliminary versions, Batista Matos passed away in his sleep, which has provided some comfort to his loved ones. "So far it was a heart attack that he had while sleeping... that also reassures us, that it was not a death with agony, but that he fell asleep like a little bird," he concluded, hinting at the mixture of sadness and resignation at the departure of such an influential figure in his life.
