Azua. – With the participation of 105 students from the Primary and Secondary levels, the Regional Education Directorate 03, Azua, held this Wednesday the 2026 Science Olympiad, an academic event aimed at strengthening scientific skills in students.
The activity took place in the auditorium of the Instituto Politécnico Profesora Teresa Digna Feliz de Estrada, in the municipality of Azua de Compostela, and brought together representatives from the five educational districts of the regional.
According to educational authorities, the olympiad seeks to encourage critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills in students, in line with the current challenges of the education system.

During the competition, a jury composed of professionals from the region evaluated the skills, abilities, and knowledge of the participants, who represented the educational districts 03-01 of Azua, 03-02 of Padre Las Casas, 03-03 of San José de Ocoa, 03-04 of Baní, and 03-05 of Nizao.
The selected students will advance to the national phase, where they will represent Regional 03 of Azua in the National Science Olympiad.
The initiative is part of the actions promoted by the Ministry of Education to promote quality education based on the development of competencies and the strengthening of scientific learning in the classroom.
