The ceasefire announced by Trump between Lebanon and Israel, which warns Hezbollah, comes into effect.

The ceasefire agreed between the Governments of Israel and Lebanon, previously announced by US President Donald Trump, officially came into effect at 5:00 PM Washington time (21.00 GMT).

Minutes before the hour arrived, the Israel Defense Forces said they were bombing rocket launchers of the Shiite group Hezbollah in Lebanon and reported having attacked more than 380 targets of the militia in the last 24 hours. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported at least three deaths and 21 injuries from Israeli attacks in the south of the country.

Hezbollah also launched several attacks against northern Israel before the ceasefire came into effect, which triggered the alarms and even hit some points. The Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) reported at least three injuries from these attacks, two of them in serious condition, according to local media.

Warning to Hezbollah

The Israeli permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, warned the Shiite militia Hezbollah that they will "react" if their country feels "threatened" during the ceasefire. "They will have to follow very closely what is happening on the ground. If we feel threatened, we will react. We are not going anywhere. We are holding our positions," Danon replied to the media at the doors of the Security Council.

For its part, Hezbollah warned that the pact should not grant "freedom of movement" to Israeli forces. "Any ceasefire must be comprehensive throughout Lebanese territory and must not allow any freedom of movement to the Israeli enemy," the press relations office of the political and armed movement indicated in a brief statement. Before referring to the pact with Lebanon, the ambassador attacked the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, for statements in which he equated the attacks of Israel and Hezbollah and assured that both destabilize Lebanon.

Israel and Lebanon Dialogue Amid Tension

Trump announced this Thursday that Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire of ten days to achieve peace, after holding «excellent» phone calls with the leaders of both nations. The tension between Israel and Lebanon threatened to destabilize the fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, which will conclude on April 22nd while it is expected that peace talks will resume in Pakistan. The death toll in Lebanon from the Israeli attacks of the last six weeks has risen to 2,196, including 172 children, and the number of injured to 7,185, of whom 661 are also minors, according to figures released today by the Emergency Operations center, belonging to the Ministry of Public Health.
