Santo Domingo.- The Minister of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, assured that the delivery of the Laderas del Este housing project represents much more than the awarding of apartments, defining it as an action that provides "tranquility, security and a new beginning" to dozens of Dominican families.
During the event led by President Luis Abinader, the official highlighted that this initiative is part of a public policy with a "human face", aimed at improving the living conditions of the population.
"Here we are delivering peace of mind, security and a new beginning for many Dominican families, because society begins in the family," Bisonó said.
The minister explained that, although 144 apartments are being delivered in this first stage, the impact extends to more than 400 people, whose stories converge on the same goal: to achieve a better quality of life.
"They are 144 families with different stories, but with the same longing: to live better, to move forward and to have their own space to grow and raise their children," he said.
Bisonó cited as an example the case of several beneficiaries present at the event, including Gloria Fermín, Eva Monegro and Francisca Berroba, highlighting the effort of women who have supported their homes with determination and sacrifice.
"Today they open the door to their own home, and that's what you can call a total change," he affirmed.
The official revealed that more than 60% of the beneficiaries are women, many of them single mothers, which, according to him, reinforces the social impact of the project by providing greater stability to their families.
He also highlighted that the homes are intended for working people, noting that more than 90% of the buyers are employed in sectors such as services, sales, transportation, and entrepreneurship, with incomes close to 47,000 pesos per month.
Bison also valued the support of the financial system, including the Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, as well as the government subsidies that have made access to these homes possible.
"Behind every key there is something deeper, families moving from precarious conditions to dignified and safe spaces, including homes with people with disabilities who now have better conditions for their well-being," he concluded.
