Santo Domingo. – The Emergency Operations Center (COE) intensified this Thursday the vigilance levels in a large part of the country, raising to 20 the provinces on yellow alert, including the National District, while another seven remain under green alert due to the incidence of a trough.
The yellow demarcations are: Santo Domingo, San José de Ocoa, Distrito Nacional, Santiago Rodríguez, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Cristi, Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Monseñor Nouel, La Altagracia, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, La Romana, Duarte (Bajo Yuna), El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Sánchez Ramírez, Espaillat and San Juan.
The following provinces are under green alert: María Trinidad Sánchez, Valverde, Independencia, Samaná, Dajabón, Elías Piña, and Azua.
The measure is adopted following reports from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, which establish the continuation of rainfall, as well as the increase in soil moisture in the demarcations under alert.
