Focused solely on his work as a pitcher, the Japanese player signed his most dominant outing of the season. He worked six innings in which he allowed only one run and struck out 10, setting his best mark of the year in that department.
From the start, Ohtani showed control and power. He authoritatively retired his first innings, limiting rival contact and maintaining dominance with an effective mix of pitches. His only complication came in the fifth inning, when he allowed the only run of the game after a run-scoring double, but responded by raising his level at the key moment. In high-pressure situations, the pitcher brought his full repertoire, reaching 100 miles per hour on four occasions. That power allowed him to neutralize any attempt at a comeback by the Mets and regain control of the game. Far from losing consistency, he closed his performance with authority, retiring the last three batters he faced via strikeout. With this, he became the first Dodgers' starter to reach double digits in strikeouts this season. Despite seeing his streak of scoreless innings end, his performance reaffirmed his dominance on the mound and his ability to respond in demanding moments. Manager Dave Roberts highlighted the Japanese player's solidity, pointing out his ability to recover after the only complicated episode and maintain control of the game until the end of his outing. With this performance, Ohtani not only led the victory, but also consolidated a key opening for Los Angeles to complete a convincing sweep at home.
