Lima .- The latest records from the general elections held in Peru on April 12 and 13 arrived this Monday at the decentralized offices of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONP), eight days after the elections, official sources reported. «The last to arrive correspond to 31 polling stations from Cusco: Pichari (14), Villa Virgen (8) and Villa Kintiarina (9)», ONPE reported on the social network Twitter. The organization explained that the helicopter transfer of the records from these locations, located in remote areas of the Amazon, to the Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes (ODPE) of La Convención "had been previously postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Cielo Punco sector in Cusco." The Count

The ONPE specified that once the records are in the ODPEs, they enter the counting centers to be processed, a stage in which the observed records are sent to the special electoral juries (JEE), as well as those with challenged votes or requests for annulment.

The JEEs adopt resolutions that, if appealed, go to the plenary session of the National Jury of Elections (JNE), the highest Peruvian electoral body, which resolves in the last instance, after which the ONPE can finish counting the votes up to 100% of the records, which so far reach just over 93%. Regarding this, the JNE reported this Monday that it expects to have the complete results of the elections on May 15, since, so far, there are more than 65,000 observed voting records, of which they have received more than 27,000, which are in the process of resolution by the JEE. Until this Monday, the JEEs had received 381 records to proceed with the vote count and began the first public hearings to carry out that procedure. The second round of the presidential election will be held on June 7th in Peru and, according to the vote count so far, will be contested between the right-wing Keiko Fujimori, who has received 17% of valid votes, and a rival who will be decided between the leftist Roberto Sánchez, who has 12%, and the ultraconservative Rafael López Aliaga, with 11.9% support. López Aliaga has starred in recent days in a series of demonstrations with his followers and, after denouncing fraud without presenting evidence, has asked for complementary elections to be called for citizens who could not vote due to the delay in the opening of the voting centers, especially in Lima, where he receives his largest electoral flow.
