Santo Domingo.- Braylin José Gómez Castillo, known as “El Rubio”, 27 years old, residing in the La Rosa sector of Santo Domingo Oeste, surrendered on the afternoon of this Tuesday through the newspaper De Último Minuto, after the police authorities and the journalist Ramón Tolentino made a public call for his capture.
According to the authorities, "El Rubio" is accused of participating in an assault that occurred in broad daylight against a young motorcyclist in the Manoguayabo sector. The event was captured in a video spread on social media, generating great indignation among the citizenry. During the robbery, Castillo was carrying a firearm and was acting alongside several accomplices who, until now, remain fugitives and are actively sought by the authorities.
During his surrender, the young man admitted his participation in the criminal act and requested guarantees to safeguard his life. According to official information, he had already had a criminal record for other cases.

In the same case, John Deivi, another of the alleged individuals involved in the assault, died after confronting agents from the Department of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) during an operation. The confrontation occurred when the agents tried to arrest him and he responded with gunfire, resulting in a fatal injury. Deivi's body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), while the National Police continues investigations to find the whereabouts of the other people involved. Authorities urge fugitives to surrender to avoid similar fatal outcomes.
