Santo Domingo.- The country remains shocked after the murder of Ivonne Handal Abugabir, sister-in-law of the family of former President Hipólito Mejía, which occurred in her residence in the Naco sector, in the National District. The person responsible has been identified as Jean Andrés Pumarol Fernández, a young man who resided in the same building and who, according to witnesses, violently broke into the victim's apartment.

According to preliminary reports, the aggressor would have suffered an emotional crisis at the time of the event, which is being evaluated by the authorities. During the attack, other people were injured, and the young man was arrested at the scene by members of the National Police and agents of the DICRIM. So far, the authorities have not offered details on the formal charges that will be brought against him, but it is expected that a coercive measure will be requested in the coming hours.
