Santiago.- Members of the National Police, assigned to the Property Crimes Investigation Section based in the municipality of San José de las Matas, in coordination with the Preventive Police and under the supervision of the Public Ministry, carried out a raid in which a man was arrested and several firearms were seized, some without documents to support their legality.
The intervention was carried out in a residence located in the aforementioned municipality, through judicial search warrant No. AJ0031611-2025, resulting in the arrest of Verly de Jesús Peña. During the search inside the house, a Maverick shotgun, 12-gauge, serial No. MV10328S, with three cartridges, and a Carandai pistol, 9mm caliber, serial No. K21699, with its magazine and six bullets were seized. Also, in the Toyota RAV4 vehicle, white color, license plate G697157, which was parked in the carport of the residence, a Akkar shotgun, 12 gauge, serial No. 13202470, with four cartridges, registered in the name of the detainee, was seized.
A Zoraki brand pistol, model 2906, 9mm caliber, with a modified barrel to fire 7.65 caliber cartridges, accompanied by a magazine and two cartridges, without documents supporting its legal possession or carrying, was also seized. When verbally interviewed, the detainee stated that the aforementioned weapons were in his possession as collateral. He, along with the seized evidence, was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
