Prosecutor's Office accuses a man for, allegedly, raping and murdering a 9-year-old boy

Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry formally accused a man for allegedly raping and murdering a nine-year-old boy on April 18 of this year in the province of San Cristóbal, the Prosecutor's Office reported this Friday.

The man, Jesús Alberto Camacho Decena, was accused before the First Instruction Court of the Judicial District of San Cristóbal for the crimes of abuse, rape, and murder of the child. The Prosecution reported that its case file is supported by testimonial, documentary, audiovisual, expert, and material evidence that compromises the criminal responsibility of the defendant, including a video in which he is seen making contact with the victim and taking her to the aforementioned place aboard the motorcycle he was riding. The investigation was initiated by the Public Ministry and the National Police following the report of the case presented on April 19, 2025. The Public Ministry requested the court to summon the parties involved in the process to a preliminary oral hearing in order to hear the accusation and the request for an order to open the trial against Camacho Decena. At the moment, the accused is serving pre-trial detention for the case at the Najayo Men's Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) in San Cristóbal. The Public Ministry, represented by prosecutors Ana Mercedes Pichardo Puello and Laura Cecilia Segura Cordero, legally qualified the case as a violation of articles 396, letters A and C, of the Code for the Protection System and the Fundamental Rights of Children (Law 136-03) and articles 295, 296, 297, 298, 302, 304, 330 and 331 of the Dominican Penal Code.
