Regulations and Transparency

The call is framed within the recent modification to the Regulation for the evaluation of the performance of the SCJ judges, which empowers the CNM to decide in each case whether the interviews will be public or private. However, the regulations establish that the evaluation of the president of the Supreme Court must always be public.

No objections presented

The deadline to file objections against the magistrates to be evaluated expired on September 23. According to the CNM Secretariat, no objections were registered on this occasion.

Case of Magistrate Fernández Gómez

Although he was also due for evaluation, judge Blas Rafael Fernández Gómez will not be part of the process after formally informing the CNM that he will not opt for a new term in the high court, in accordance with article 5 of Regulation no. 2-25. With this call, the National Council of the Magistracy reaffirms its commitment to transparency and the institutional strengthening of Dominican justice.
