Santo Domingo, RD. - The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, is already in the country after concluding her diplomatic agenda in the Vatican, which included participation in the ceremony for the beginning of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV.
Peña arrived in Santo Domingo after 6:00 p.m., at the Las Américas International Airport Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez and was received by Brigadier General Pilot Enmanuel Souffront Tamayo, FARD, director of the Specialized Body in Airport and Civil Aviation Security (CESAC).

The Vice President returns after representing the Dominican Republic at the solemn enthronement mass and personally extending congratulations and the sentiments of the Dominican people upon the selection of Cardinal Robert Prevost as Supreme Pontiff.
Within the framework of the diplomatic mission, the vice president met with the Vatican's Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, with whom she discussed issues of mutual interest, in addition to highlighting the relevance of the values they share.
Likewise, he also visited the tomb of Pope Francis, in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, in Rome, who passed away on April 21st.
Subsequently, Raquel Peña met with Dominican priests studying in Rome with specializations focused on strengthening faith and with the diplomatic and administrative staff of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Italy, thanking them for their dedication and commitment to the dignified representation of the country.
