Marlon Moreno expressed his fear of the excessive use of social media and confesses he was forced to have them

The actor Marlon Moreno criticized the excessive use of social media and said he was forced to create them by clauses in his acting contracts. Santo Domingo, RD. – Colombian actor Marlon Moreno revealed during his visit to the Dominican Republic that he was once forced to open accounts on social media such as Instagram and Facebook as part of the contractual requirements of the productions in which he participates. The statement was made during the promotional tour of "Cucú", the psychological thriller that he stars in and which will be released on October 16 in cinemas in the country. “Practically, one day they forced me to have Instagram and Facebook. I didn't want to. Why? Because today in all productions in my contract it states that one must make posts to promote them, and it's something I do with all the love in the world, but to be honest, I'm not passionate about being on social media,” the actor explained to De Último Minuto. He assured that in his particular case he has minimized the use of his cell phone, limiting it to one hour a week, exclusively for checking emails and responding to professional matters.

"It hurts me a lot to talk about that topic. People, for example, are passionate, the phone became an appendage for them and they can't live without it. I try not to look at it and I try to reduce its use to one hour a week. That means only checking emails," he affirmed.

During the interview, Moreno confessed that during his stay in the Dominican Republic, he witnessed an incident that reaffirmed his concern about the social disconnection people have caused by technology. "Just on the way to a film meeting, I saw how a couple was almost run over while crossing the street while keeping their eyes on their cell phone," he recounted. The actor also warned that this concern especially affects him because of the children and the severe effects that technological attachment has on them and on their ability to concentrate and learn.

“The children are the same. They are suffering more and more. They are children that their parents tell them something and they are with their heads down. That causes me a lot of pain,” he commented.

Furthermore, taking the opportunity to point out that over time digital platforms have promoted a culture of uninformed opinion and verbal aggression towards people they sometimes don't even know.

“I am concerned about the ability that these devices have given everyone to have an opinion on everything, when in reality we know absolutely nothing, and everyone today feels free to offend others because they thought it was funny… There are many facets to this issue and I don't know where it will lead us,” he expressed.

In that sense, Moreno admitted to having been the target of negative comments on social media, although not in a large proportion, which is why he said he does not allow them to affect him. "It doesn't affect me much, but there are always comments. I just don't pay attention to them. I know colleagues who are told something that offends them and they start a war. I'm really not interested for a simple reason: because what you say about me is not talking about me, it's talking about you. You keep your problems," he said.
When referring to the topic of negative comments, he cited a reflection that he uses to deal with these types of situations: "The Chinese have a very interesting saying in this regard, which goes: 'If you give me a gift and I don't accept it, whose is the gift?'" Moreno visited the Dominican Republic as part of the promotion of "Cucú", his first film in the country. The film, directed by Tito Rodríguez and produced by Evelyna Rodríguez and Danilo Reynoso, is a co-production between the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Mexico. The story explores the crisis of a childless couple facing extreme psychological situations after the arrival of a mysterious character. The movie will be available in all cinemas in the country from October 16th
