Agents from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the State Prosecutor's Office, and the Civil Guard, executed search warrants in six homes, where there were indications of CJNG operations. The Semar used a helicopter and two armored tactical vehicles to detect possible violent reactions from hitmen in the service of organized crime. During the operation, authorities arrested three women and four men, who were seized eight firearms of various calibers, useful cartridges and tactical equipment. Authorities also seized 83 boxes, 26 bags and a sack with marijuana, 24 plastic bags with methamphetamine, five animals in captivity and four vehicles. Family members of the detainees protested at the Huetamo Civil Guard barracks, where the 911 emergency telephone service also operates, which led the authorities present to use tear gas to disperse the protesters. Local paramedics attended to four people who were poisoned by the gas, including a pregnant woman who had to be transferred to a regional hospital. Authorities have identified that various drug cartels operate in Huetamo, among which the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), La Familia Michoacana, Los Caballeros Templarios and the Sinaloa Cartel (faction of Ismael Zambada "El Mayo", currently imprisoned in the United States), among others, stand out. In this area of Michoacán, the Prosecutor's Office detected that the CJNG cell operates under the orders of the alleged Michoacán drug trafficker Audías Flores Silva "Don Flores or El Jardinero", one of the closest men to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the maximum leader of that criminal organization. The United States Department of the Treasury offers a reward of five million dollars for information leading to the capture of "El Jardinero", who has been considered by authorities as the possible successor to "El Mencho".
