Alarming! 14-year-old Haitian student pulled out a firearm at a school in Santiago

Santiago.- Great concern has been generated among parents and educational authorities that a fourteen-year-old student of Haitian nationality carried a firearm to the Salustina Bans Batista Educational Center in the Bella Vista sector of Santiago.

According to preliminary information, last Friday the teenager showed up at the educational center with the firearm that is supposedly owned by her stepfather, who is also of Haitian nationality and was threatening her with it.

The minor allegedly took out the firearm at school in front of her classmates with the intention of “impressing” the others.

After the incident, a classmate informed her mother about what happened at school, then the mother contacted a teacher to give her the information that her daughter had given her about the event, which the school psychologist took care of, since according to her, the girl was in danger with her stepfather.

The case is being investigated by the educational authorities, the police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The school principal, Salustina Bans Batista, maintains that the fourteen-year-old girl is not violent, but they do not have control over what the students do at the school.
