!Caglianone hits a 466-foot HR and Salvador Pérez responds with two homers in the Royals' victory!

KANSAS CITY – Jac Caglianone is not only adapting to the Major Leagues, but he is already making his mark with the power of his bat. On Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium, the rookie detonated a monumental 466-foot home run that left no doubt from the moment of contact. It was a key part in the Royals' 4-3 victory over the Pirates, which secured the sweep in the series.

The hit, which traveled over three walls in center field and bounced off the QuikTrip sign below the CrownVision, was Caglianone's second home run in consecutive nights and the longest of his young career. According to Statcast, it's the longest home run hit by a Royals rookie since measurements began in 2015. It also ranks tied for tenth-longest in stadium history and just eight feet short of Brandon Moss's record (474 feet in 2017). But Caglianone wasn't the only offensive protagonist. Veteran and captain Salvador Pérez shone again with the bat, connecting two crucial home runs: one in the second inning to open the scoring and another in the eighth to break the 3-3 tie and seal Kansas City's victory. In total, Pérez and Caglianone combined for 1,336 feet of pure power, reflecting the kind of production the Royals craved with summer in full swing. Caglianone, who had a slow start in the Majors with a .148/.203/.261 line before the game, seems to be finding his offensive rhythm. His consecutive home runs have not only revitalized his confidence, but have confirmed the potential the Royals saw in him. With this performance, Kansas City closes a sweep against Pittsburgh with power and enthusiasm, and makes it clear that its offense can be as dangerous as it is spectacular.
