Dominican Republic in 12th place in the world ranking of the World Baseball Softball Confederation

Santo Domingo. – The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) published the most recent update of the Men's Baseball World Ranking, where Dominican Republic holds the number 12 position, securing for the moment the last direct classification spot for the Premier12 2027, the elite event of international baseball.

The Premier12, which from 2027 will feature 16 national teams, will award direct tickets to the top 12 countries in the ranking at the end of 2025. Nations ranked 13th to 18th, along with two wild cards, will compete in a qualifying tournament to determine the last four spots. Currently, the Dominican Republic maintains a narrow lead over Colombia (No. 13), which is only 327 points away, intensifying the fight for direct classification spots in the final stretch of the year.

Colombia (No. 13), Italy (No. 14), Czech Republic (No. 15) and Nicaragua (No. 16) remain in the fight, while Great Britain (No. 17), Germany (No. 18) and China (No. 19) compete point by point for the last qualifying spot. Furthermore, this adjustment of positions reflects the expiration of points earned in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the update of the results of the 2025 U-18 Baseball World Cup, recently held in Okinawa, Japan.
