Giants re-sign pitcher Wandy Peralta

San Francisco de Macorís. – The Gigantes del Cibao announced the renewal of the contract of the pitcher from San Francisco de Macorís, Wandy Peralta, ensuring his permanence with the franchise for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

Peralta was originally selected in the 2013 Rookie Draft by the Águilas Cibaeñas in the 11th round, an organization with which he pitched for three seasons before joining the Gigantes del Cibao in 2024, becoming part of the Cibaeño team's relief corps. The veteran left-handed pitcher, 34 years old, already has participation with the Giants in the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, providing experience and depth to the team's pitching. Furthermore, he was recently confirmed as part of the Dominican team that will participate in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, an event that will begin in the month of March. In LIDOM, during four regular season seasons, he presents a 4-5 record with an ERA of 3.25 in 44.1 innings pitched, in which he has struck out 38 batters and maintains a WHIP of 1.22, showing consistency from the mound. Likewise, Peralta has stated on multiple occasions his identification as a fan of the Gigantes del Cibao, further strengthening his bond with the organization and the fanbase. Peralta also has a solid track record of 10 seasons in the Major Leagues, where he has seen action with the Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres, establishing himself as a reliable reliever at the highest level of professional baseball. With this renewal, the Gigantes del Cibao continue to strengthen the base of experienced players within their roster, betting on continuity and proven talent with a view to the next campaign.
