San Francisco de Macorís. – The Gigantes del Cibao announced the signing of veteran Dominican catcher Gary Sánchez, a move that immediately strengthens the team's experience and depth for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

Sánchez, a native of Santo Domingo and 32 years old, has 11 seasons of experience in Major League Baseball, where he has played catcher for the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and Baltimore Orioles.
In the most recent 2025 campaign, the catcher played 29 games with the Baltimore Orioles before leaving due to injury. During his time with the Yankees, he was recognized with two All-Star Game selections in 2017 and 2019, establishing himself as one of the most powerful catchers of his generation.
In the Dominican winter league, Gary was chosen by the Leones del Escogido in the first round of the 2011 rookie draft. Since then, he has participated in five campaigns, wearing the jerseys of both Escogido and Toros del Este.
