ANAHEIM, California — The wait is over: Mike Trout is ready to return to the diamond. According to a source reported to MLB.com, the Angels star will be activated from the 10-day injured list this Friday, just before the first game of the series against the Guardians in Cleveland. To make room on the roster, outfielder Matthew Lugo was sent to Triple-A Salt Lake this Thursday.

Trout was placed on the injured list on May 2 (retroactive to May 1) due to a bone contusion in his left knee, a joint that had already been operated on twice. The injury occurred on April 30 when he stepped awkwardly on first base at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.During his rehabilitation process, the stellar outfielder resumed light running activities on Tuesday and faced live pitching on Wednesday, successfully completing the necessary steps for his return after missing 27 consecutive games.
Before the injury, Trout was batting .179 with an OPS of .727, but stood out for his power, with nine home runs in just 29 games.
His return is a morale boost and a key offensive player for an Angels team that has lost five games in a row after an eight-game winning streak. Trout rejoins a lineup led by Zach Neto and Logan O’Hoppe, looking to give the club a new boost.The Angels will arrive on Friday with a record of 25-30, located in the fourth position of the American League West Division.
