The clarification was made by Cruz when answering questions from the press, an occasion he took advantage of to apologize for not having communicated the decision before, explaining that his role also implies ensuring the well-being of the players. "I want to apologize to the media, because I know there was a lot of expectation about José's participation. My responsibility as a manager is not limited to choosing a team, it also includes protecting the players," said Cruz during an appearance before the press at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, where a children's baseball clinic was taking place. The manager specified that Ramírez's unavailability is not related to sporting aspects or his performance on the field, but rather to a personal matter that would prevent him from being present from the start of the tournament. "Due to a personal situation, José will not be able to play in the Classic. However, there is a possibility that he can join in a second phase, if we advance and God willing," he explained. Cruz highlighted that the decision has been complicated for the star player, underlining that he has always shown willingness and commitment to represent the country in the international competition. "It hasn't been an easy decision for him, as he has always wanted to participate in the Classic, but on this occasion it is something beyond his control," he added. Finally, he indicated that it will be José Ramírez himself who, when he deems it appropriate, will offer more details about the situation that prevents him from participating in the event.
