O’Hearn is coming off the best offensive season of his career in 2025, in which he set personal bests in several categories and received his first All-Star call. In 544 plate appearances with the Orioles and Padres, he recorded an OPS of .803 and hit 17 home runs, in addition to improving his walk percentage (10.7%). Defensively, the left-handed batter had an outstanding performance at first base, a position where he has started the majority of his games in the Major Leagues. In 2025, he accumulated a fielding runs value of +6, tied among the best in the position, in addition to +4 defensive runs saved. O’Hearn, who will turn 32 years old in the 2026 season, debuted in the Major Leagues with the Kansas City Royals in 2018. After a promising start, he went through irregular years until his career gained new momentum with the Baltimore Orioles. Between 2023 and 2024 he batted for an average of .275, with 29 home runs and an OPS+ of 120. During the 2025 season, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, where he maintained his offensive consistency at the end of the campaign. In addition, he showed a notable improvement against left-handed pitchers, recording an OPS of .832, much higher than the previous season. With this addition, the Pirates strengthen their offense and add experience to their lineup for the upcoming Major League season.
